What If I Don’t Have The Insurance You Accept? Can I Still Work With My Insurance?

All Licensed Professionals can offer a super bill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

I have 2 insurance plans, what do I do?

Let us guide you, with clarity...

Often your employer plan is primary and your spouse's or parent's plan may be secondary but each situation varies. Please call the number on the back of your insurance card and tell Customer Service you need to do a "coordination of benefits" if you have not already.

You must notify your therapist immediately if you change insurance plans or obtain a second policy. BOTH plans have to be billed each time a claim is submitted for your sessions. Often the burden of knowing which insurance plan will pay for your services falls on your therapist or the practice, if you don't notify us of changes it can cause us to lose income with little to no recourse within the larger insurance system. This situation is unfair for both clients and clinicians as YOU are responsible for fees that the insurance company pays in error and then reclaims. We're always happy to help you nagivate confusing insurance benefits, so let us know as soon as possible!

How Do I Discover What My Insurance Will Cover?

To find out what your insurance may cover, contact your insurance and ask them if your preferred therapist is covered in-network or if you have out-of-network mental health coverage.

If you need to provide a “CPT code” or a “service code” you can provide the following codes:

  • Initial Assessment - 90791
  • Psychotherapy (38-52 minutes) - 90834
  • Psychotherapy (53+ minutes) 90837
  • Relationship/Family Session - 90847 & 90846

Other things you may want to ask about are:

  • What is your deductible
  • What your copayment or coinsurance payment will be
  • How many visits you get per year
  • If you need preauthorization for your visits
  • Details on how to submit a superbill

Contact us if you would like more guidance on how to figure out what your insurance will cover. We can verify benefits to get as much information as is available to us.

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?

To cancel a scheduled Counseling & Art Therapy session, a minimum of 24 hours in advance of your session is required. If prior and timely notification is not given, you will be charged the full session fee for the missed session.

About Your Right To Receive A Good Faith Estimate Of Expected Charges

Under the law, as health care providers, we will give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

This estimate is called a "Good Faith Estimate" and explains how much your Counseling & Art Therapy services will cost. Here are a few key things you should know about your Good Faith Estimate:

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
  • You may ensure that we give you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 3 business days before your Counseling & Art Therapy services or item. You can also ask us for a Good Faith Estimate prior to scheduling (this is explained in our initial consent documents as well).
  • If you receive a bill that is $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • It's recommended that you save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.
